| Detail:
She was bound Duluth for Chicago with the schooner-barge JAMES MOWATT in tow, and caught fire in her deck load. Her crew abandoned ship to MOWATT, while ARNOLD later drifted ashore 7 mi below Portage Entrance to the ship canal, where she burned out.Both vessels owned by Mills Transportation of Marysville, MI.When built she was reported to be the largest steamer in the lumber trade and had accomodations for 20 passengers as well.Image from GLMD |
