Results will only be returned for the first 50 matching vessels, so please try to enter at least three letters in Vessel Name and Accident Place.  Try name variations and partial names, as vessel names were often abbreviated or misspelled in original accounts. Years currently available:1840, 1842, 1843, 1844, 1845, 1846, 1848, 1849, 1854, 1857, 1858, 1859, 1860, 1861, 1862, 1863, 1865, 1866, 1867, 1869, 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1876, 1877, 1878, 1879, 1880, 1882 & 1883.  List are being transcribed for every year between 1840 and 1900.

The accident database contains over 18,000 records of Great Lakes vessel accidents taken from original archival accident lists compiled by marine insurance companies, marine reporters and government agencies.  The lists were collected by Brendon Baillod & David Swayze and transcribed by many volunteers.  Please visit the Vessel Transcription Project website for information about lists currently being transcribed and to participate in the project.
